As General Chair, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2015 IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS2015) to be held in Phoenix, Arizona, 17-22 May 2015. IMS2015, organized by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technique Society (MTT-S), is the premier conference for attendees to learn about the latest information in RF and microwave industry. The IMS2015 will be held in the beautiful Phoenix Convention Center which was recently rebuilt and expanded.
The IMS2015 mission is to facilitate a Rich Attendee Experience by providing a forum for presenting state-of-the-art technical papers in RF and MW Related topics, exhibiting the latest products and technology solutions and for networking with peers.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Microwaves Soaring Towards the Future”. New and emerging fields like wearable electronics, internet of things, 3D printing, 5G, and RF/MW technology in life science will be emphasized at IMS2015. The theme will resonate throughout the keynote talks, panel sessions and technical presentations beginning with the Opening Plenary on Monday and culminating in the Closing Ceremony on Thursday. Many special programs to promote student participation from middle school to college graduates will be introduced. A panel session and focused session organized by Women in Microwave will be held at IMS2015. During the Industry exhibition, held Tuesday through Thursday, over 550 companies will be showcasing products and technology solutions of interest to conference attendees.
Downtown Phoenix is vibrant with plenty of restaurants and entertainment centers within walking distance of the conference site. A brand new light rail system connects the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to downtown area hotels and the Convention Center. You can enjoy the local culture by visiting Roosevelt Row Arts District, which was recently named one of USA Today’s 10 best city arts districts in America. ‘Downtown Phoenix Ambassadors’, wearing orange shirts, can be found all around the convention center and at important intersections to assist you with information on special events, local attractions and restaurants
Phoenix, also known as Valley of the Sun, is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Beautiful picturesque mountains, desert botanical gardens and golf courses decorate the Valley. Other tourist attractions include the Heard Museum that exhibits Native American culture and art, the Arizona Science Center and the Musical Instrument Museum. Phoenix is the gateway to the Grand Canyon, one of the natural wonders of the world. Within a short driving distance are the world famous red rock mountains of Sedona, the most photographed Monument Valley of Northern Arizona and the Petrified Forest where trees stay still for ages.
With all IMS2015 and the city has to offer, your time in Phoenix is sure to be a fun and productive one!
